This is a list of IIHF World Rankings from its inception in 2003. The IIHF World Ranking is a ranking of the performance of the national ice hockey teams of member countries of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). It is based on a formula giving points for each team's placings at IIHF-sanctioned tournaments over the previous four years.
The Women's 2024 ranking is based on the performance at the World Championships of 2024, 2023, 2022, and 2021, and at the Olympic Ice Hockey tournament of 2022. Most of the tournaments in 2020 and 2021 were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic .

The teams of the member nations of International Hockey Federation (FIH), field hockey's world governing body, are ranked based on their game results and performance. The league table was originally compiled and issued by Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2003, making it the first global university ranking with multifarious indicators.
To qualify directly, a nation had to be ranked in the top eight following the 2023 Men's Ice Hockey World Championships.In the IIHF World Ranking system, ranking points from the most recent year were weighted at full value, and points from each preceding year were worth 25% less.
Each team's roster consisted of at least 15 skaters (forwards and defencemen) and two goaltenders, and at most 22 skaters and three goaltenders.All 16 participating nations, through the confirmation of their respective national associations, had to submit a roster by the first IIHF directorate meeting.
