Orange County Soccer Club is an American soccer team based in the Orange County, California city of Irvine. Founded in 2010 as the Los Angeles Blues, the team currently plays in the Western Conference of the USL Championship , the second tier of the American soccer system.
In their season opener, Orange County drew 2–2 with the Sacramento Republic FC away in Sacramento, [5] with Colin Shutler scoring a header during a corner kick three minutes into stoppage time. With his header, Shutler became the first Orange County, and only the third ever USL Championship goalkeeper, to score in a match. [6] [7]

The 2016 Orange County Blues FC season was the club's seventh season of existence, and their seventh season playing in the third tier of American soccer, USL.. Unlike the previous season, the Blues weren't as dominant in their conference, losing five more games, and only qualifying for the USL Playoffs as the eighth seed over the Portland Timbers 2 via goal difference. The 2021 Orange County SC season was the club's eleventh season of existence, and their eleventh consecutive season in the United Soccer League Championship, the second tier of American soccer. Due to the continuing COVID-19 worldwide pandemic, the 2021 USL Championship season divided the league into two conferences with two divisions each.
It would be OCFC's first time playing against a professional soccer club in a competitive match. Orange County SC led 2-1 in stoppage time but center back Ryan Holland scored the equalizer to tie the game at 2-2. The match went to penalties and Orange County FC won 5-3 to advance to the third round to face Las Vegas Lights FC. [12]
