The R30 is a provincial route in South Africa that connects Bloemfontein with Rustenburg via Brandfort, Welkom, Bothaville, Klerksdorp and Ventersdorp. [1] The southern part of the route is tolled, as the R30 forms the first section of the ZR Mahabane Toll Route, with the Brandfort Toll Plaza found 10 kilometres north of its southern terminus junction with the N1 national route.

It begins by heading southwards for 15 kilometres to the town of Sterkspruit. It then heads south-west for 38 kilometres to reach a junction with the R58 road. [1] The R392 joins the R58 and they are one road south-east for 26 kilometres, bypassing Lady Grey, before the R392 becomes its own road southwards.
Sterkspruit is a town in the Senqu Local Municipality in the Joe Gqabi District Municipality in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. The town is located about 45 km south-east of Zastron, 80 km north-east of Aliwal North, and 24 km from the Lesotho border. [2] It takes its name from the Sterkspruit, the watercourse on which it is situated.

It enters as Schmidtsdrift Road, then Long Street, and reaches a junction with the N12, just west of the N12's intersection with the R64 (an alternative route to Bloemfontein). It turns south-east to be co-signed with the N12 as Bultfontein Road up to the Bishops Road junction, where the N12 turns south, leaving the N8 as the south-easterly road.
