"My Sacrifice" is a song by American rock band Creed. It was released on October 16, 2001, as the lead single from their third studio album, Weathered.The song peaked at number four on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart for the week of February 9, 2002, and reached number one on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart for nine consecutive weeks, beginning in December 2001.
The album had four music videos created for it: "My Sacrifice" in 2001, followed by "Bullets", "One Last Breath", and "Don't Stop Dancing" in 2002. A two-disc version of Weathered was released and contained a VCD with three music videos made for Creed's second studio album Human Clay.
Creed topped the Billboard 200 again with the release of Weathered in November 2001, [3] which was certified six times platinum by the RIAA. [4] The lead single "My Sacrifice" topped the Mainstream Rock chart and reached number four on the Hot 100, before "One Last Breath" reached the top ten on both charts. [5] [7]
A video was also released with the single which was also aired on MTV as a follow-up to Creed's first single, "My Sacrifice".Developed by Vision Scape Interactive, the team behind games such as Twisted Metal 4, were responsible for characterizing and developing the storyline in the video with the band.
The video was directed by Dave Meyers, who had previously directed the videos for "What If", "With Arms Wide Open" and "My Sacrifice". He would go on to co-direct the video for the band's next single, "Don't Stop Dancing", along with Stapp. Stapp drafted the treatment for the video and explained his ideas to Meyers.
