Bangla is a folk-rock band from Bangladesh formed by the popular indie musician Shayan Chowdhury Arnob in 1999. Bangla mainly blends the traditional Bangladeshi folk genres like Baul , Lalon together with western flavours like jazz , blues , rock etc. [ 1 ] The band released its first album Kingkortobbobimurho in 2002.

The mastering engineer was Steve Fallone of Sterling Sound, New York. The band witnessed a surge in popularity.
The band name "CACTUS" was derived "from the fact that the music scene was then devoid of life as in a desert". Cactus was formed in 1992. [3] [4] The band has named Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden and many others as their inspiration. Cactus is one of the first professional Bangla rock bands. [5]
The album contains the song Shono Mohajon, [5] a song about the experience of oppression under dictatorship, which eventually became famous as the "unofficial anthem of Bangladesh" during the Student–People's uprising in 2024. [6] [7] In 2016, Ishmamul Farhad joined the band as lead guitarist, replacing Shaker Raza.
Their second album, A Step Farther was released in 1986 and it consisted of 7 original and 5 cover songs. Their first Bengali album, Protisruti, was released in 1991. It included 12 original Bengali songs. Their second Bengali album, Prottasha, was released in 1993. [citation needed] The fourth Bengali album, Probaho, was produced in 1999.
Shironamhin (English: Untitled) is a Bangladeshi rock band formed in Dhaka in 14 April 1996. Following as a rock group emerging from Dhaka's underground music in the late 1990s, they were distinguished for their extended psychedelic and progressive compositions, multi-instrumental experimentation, and philosophical lyrics and became one of the leading band of the Bengali progressive rock genre.
Bay of Bengal is a Bangladeshi experimental rock/metal band formed in Chittagong on 26 December 2010. [1] [2] Their debut album Nirob Durvikkho was released in 2016. They are well known for their usage of distinct flutes and keyboard solos in their songs. [3]
