Gary Edmund Carter (April 8, 1954 – February 16, 2012) was an American professional baseball catcher whose 19-year Major League Baseball (MLB) career was spent primarily with the Montreal Expos and New York Mets.
The Mets wore replicas of their 1989 road uniforms for a game at San Diego on August 3, 2012, adding the 2012 Gary Carter memorial patch to the right sleeve of the "throwback" jersey. On April 16, 2013, the Mets wore replicas of their 1993 home uniforms in the second game of a doubleheader against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.
