Buck Island Reef National Monument protects Buck Island, a small, uninhabited 176-acre (712,000 m²) island about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) north of the northeast coast of Saint Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, and 18,839 acres of submerged lands, totaling 19,015 acres. [2]
Salt River Bay National Historic Park and Ecological Preserve is a unit of the National Park Service on the island of St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. It preserves upland watersheds, mangrove forests, and estuarine and marine environments that support threatened and endangered species.

Great Pond is a 50 ha saline coastal lagoon on the south-eastern shoreline of the island of Saint Croix in the United States Virgin Islands. The pond is part of St Croix East End Marine Park. It the second largest salt pond in the Virgin Islands, [1] and is one of the largest remaining mangrove tracts in St. Croix.
The dive took place off the Saint Croix coast. Garman had arranged for a 1,300 feet (400 m) weighted line to be anchored in place as part of the dive. Garman was supported by dive operator the Scuba Tec dive team, of St. Croix Ultimate Bluewater Adventures, in the attempt. [ 7 ]
