John Walter Olver (September 3, 1936 – February 23, 2023) was an American politician and chemist who was the U.S. representative for Massachusetts's 1st congressional district from 1991 to 2013.
Miller is the grandson of Samuel H. Miller, the former co-chair emeritus of Forest City Realty Trust, and son of Abe and Barb Miller. [4] His grandmother, Ruth Miller, was a candidate for Ohio's 22nd congressional district in 1980.

Miller was an assistant district attorney in Niagara County, New York, from 1946 to 1948. In January 1948, the district attorney's position became vacant, and the governor of New York appointed Miller. Miller was elected to a full term later that year, and served as district attorney until January 1951, when he resigned.
