Verizon stopped laying fiber at the Polk County line. They announced 5 years ago that all FIOS expansion has stopped nationwide as they concentrate on "Franchise commitments". I can tell you that if you want to get FIOS and live near Orlando, you will need to look in Davenport. I did extensive research on this before I moved down.

The reason why I ask is because TWC is now pushing their "Rate Lock" program which is a 2 year comitment but you save on prices. I am thinking about doing this but I dont want to miss out on FIOS or other alternatives if they will be here in South Charlotte within the next two years. Thanks!

A very very small area of Rockwall has FIOS, while all of Wylie has FIOS. FIOS was our #1 priority, so we never really considered Rockwall, although both my wife and I like Rockwall a lot. FIOS is the only local provider of Fiber to the Premises Internet. U-verse is only fiber to the node, and then copper last mile.
