The following ancillary services are available for use with ACS on First-Class Mail, USPS Marketing Mail, Package Services, and Parcel Select: Address Service Requested provides forwarding and address correction services when possible.
Ancillary service endorsements include five basic phrases that are printed on the address side of your mailpiece: Address Service Requested. Return Service Requested. Change Service Requested. Forwarding Service Requested. Electronic Service Requested.
Address Correction Service. Per manual notice issued —$0.50. Per electronic notice (or manual notice for electronic option customers) issued: First-Class Mail —$0.08. Other than First-Class Mail —$0.25. Per automated notice issued: First-Class Mail letters (first two notices) —$0.00.
Ancillary service endorsements are used by mailers to request an addressee’s new address and to provide the USPS with instructions on how to handle undeliverable-as-addressed pieces.
Address Service Requested. Mail is forwarded if possible, or returned if forwarding is not possible. A separate notice with new address information is provided for forwarded pieces and the address-correction fee is charged. First-Class Mail is forwarded or returned at no charge.
The endorsements consist of one keyword: “Electronic,” “Address,” “Return,” “Change,” or “Forwarding,” followed by the two words “Service Requested.” The endorsements are the same for all classes of mail, but the treatment and cost differ by class of mail.
If mail cannot be delivered as addressed, address correction service allows the sender on request, using the appropriate ancillary service endorsement under F010, to obtain the addressee’s new (forwarding) address (if the addressee filed a change-of-address order with the USPS) or the reason for nondelivery.
