Hotel Interlaken is one of the oldest hotels in Switzerland. It opened in 1323 and was originally used as a guest house of the cloister and later it was part of the administration of the region. [1] The old court room on the first floor of the Hotel is now used as a meeting room. [2]

Interlaken-Oberhasli District in the Canton of Bern was created on 1 January 2010, uniting the former Interlaken and Oberhasli districts. [1] It is part of the Oberland administrative region. It contains 28 municipalities with an area of 1,228.93 km 2 (474.49 sq mi) and a population (as of December 2008 [update] ) of 48,763.
Interlaken is a district of the canton of Bern. From 1 January 2010, the district lost its administrative power while being replaced by the Interlaken-Oberhasli, whose administrative centre is Interlaken. Since 2010, it remains therefore a fully recognised district under the law and the Constitution (Art.3 al.2) of the Canton of Berne.

Camp Interlaken was established in 1935, when Herbert Magida bought the Interlaken Hotel in Hartland, Wisconsin to serve as a summer camp for boys. In 1938 Magida moved the camp to a location in Eagle River, home to a number of other Jewish summer camps , where it remains.
