At the end of the season Achilles '29 became Dutch champions by defeating Saturday champions SV Spakenburg. IJsselmeervogels ended the season in a disappointing sixth place. The 2012/2013 season also began badly.
Tackle Ed Weir was the star of this defensive display and after the season he became the first Cornhusker to twice be named a first-team All-American. Weir, who Knute Rockne called "the greatest tackle I ever saw," was a charter member of the College Football Hall of Fame in 1951.
