Ma Ho-ling (Chinese: 馬鶴凌; pinyin: Mǎ Hèlíng; Wade–Giles: Ma 3 Ho 4-ling 2; 9 November 1920 – 1 November 2005) was a high official of Kuomintang and the Republic of China. He was the father of Ma Ying-jeou, the former President of the Republic of China.
Ho-ling moved to Taiwan during the 1949 Kuomintang retreat but briefly returned to mainland China, where he eventually moved from Chongqing to Hong Kong. [7] In October 1951, Ho-ling once again moved his family to Taiwan, where he worked as a mid-rank Kuomintang official. [10] Ma is of Hakka ancestry and speaks Hakka Chinese. [11]
