Habib Umar bin Hafiz (Arabic: حبيب عمر بن حفيظ, romanized: Ḥabīb ʿUmar bin Ḥafīẓ; Arabic pronunciation: [ħabiːb ʕumar bin ħafiːðˤ]; born 27 May 1963) is a Yemeni Sunni and Sufi Islamic scholar, teacher, and founder and dean of Dar al-Mustafa Islamic seminary. [3]

In 1993, the Islamic seminary was founded by Habib Umar bin Hafiz. The Dar al-Mustafa campus was officially opened in May 1997 and incorporated as a center for traditional Islamic scholarship. [1] In 2007, there were 250 students from various countries studying at the school. [2]

Munzir Al-Musawa studied under the Yemeni Sufi scholar Umar bin Hafiz, and he returned afterward to Jakarta to begin the da'wah (Islamic proselytizing) in 1998. He then began holding the majelis (religious gathering) every Monday night, in the same style Umar bin Hafiz was conducting in Yemen.
