Bucknell University is a private liberal-arts college in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, United States. Founded in 1846 as the University at Lewisburg, it now consists of the College of Arts and Sciences, the Freeman College of Management, and the College of Engineering. It offers 65 majors and 70 minors in the sciences and humanities.
The university was renamed Bucknell University in 1886, honoring its major benefactor William Bucknell. [6] After Old Main was damaged by fire in 1932, it was rebuilt between 1935 and 1937 and renamed for university trustee Daniel C. Roberts. [7] The building underwent a $15 million renovation in 2016. The home was modernized in 1964. A glassed-in family room was added behind the house (when viewed from University Avenue), facing Bucknell Hall. It was surrounded by an extensive terrace with shrubbery. [3] Twenty years later, the building's exterior was sandblasted to restore its original red brick. It original trim was also restored. [4]
