John Marty Stuart (born September 30, 1958) is an American country and bluegrass music singer, songwriter, and musician. Active since 1968, Stuart initially toured with Lester Flatt , and then in Johnny Cash 's road band before beginning work as a solo artist in the early 1980s.
In June 2008, a live DVD of his concert material was released under the name Shaggy – Live. In July 2008, he appeared on VH1 's "I Love the New Millennium", talking about his video "It Wasn't Me". In August 2008, he performed live at the Dar es Salaam festival, to mark the Zain Global Brand launch in Tanzania.
Marty Stuart had just finished his tour with Merle Haggard, The Old Crow Medicine Show and his wife, Connie Smith. The tour, dubbed the 'Electric Barnyard Tour' was designed to bring a show to what Haggard called "the forgotten people" (poor people in small towns across rural America).
