On 18 June 2015, Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) was constituted by merging the existing municipal areas of Rajarhat-Gopalpur Municipality, Bidhannagar Municipality and the panchayat area of Mahishbathan II Gram Panchayat.
