The Naskapi (Nascapi, Naskapee, Nascapee) are an Indigenous people of the Subarctic native to the historical region St'aschinuw (ᒋᑦ ᐊᔅᒋᓄᐤ, meaning 'our land'), [2] which was located in present day northern Quebec and Labrador, neighbouring Nunavik. They are closely related to Innu People, who call their homeland Nitassinan.
The band also has control of a Naskapi village municipality of the same name which is 242.09 square kilometres (93.47 sq mi). [4] Somewhat contrary to the names, in Quebec, Terres réservées aux Naskapis are parcels of land set aside for the permanent residence of Naskapi First Nations.
