Elvis Presley and Bernard Lansky in 1956. Lansky Bros. was started in 1946 at 126 Beale Street in downtown Memphis, Tennessee. It started as a store that sold leftover Army supplies from World War II, Bernard took advantage of the elevating Beale Street music scene and looked to provide clothing for the typical characters of Beale who wanted to dress dapper.
In 1995, Dillards built a store expansion in the center court of the mall for the men's and children's store while the existing Dillards on the west end of the mall became the women's store. In 2005, Federated Department Stores rebranded all of the Goldsmith's locations as Macy's.
Southland Mall is a regional shopping mall in the Whitehaven neighborhood of South Memphis, Tennessee. It was built in 1966, becoming the first enclosed mall in the Mid-South. It is managed and owned by Namdar Realty Group. There are over 60 stores. There are two vacant anchors last occupied by Macy's and Sears.

By the early 2000s, the mall had begun to lose tenants due to shifting demographics and a number of vacant big-box stores in the area. The Dillard's store closed in early 2006. In 2021, CubeSmart replaced the former Sears space. CubeSmart closed in mid to late 2022 and was replaced by Extra Space Storage which is still open as of November 2024. [5]
