Elaine Wyllie (born August 26, 1953) is a professor emeritus of neurology at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine and emeritus staff physician in Cleveland Clinic's Epilepsy Center. Her research focused on the role of epilepsy surgery in children with drug-resistant seizures.
Wylie was named after J. J. Wylie, an early settler, who moved Taylor County in 1880. The first settlers farmed in the Wylie area beginning in 1881, but Wylie as a community did not develop until 1902, when John H. Vance arrived from Austin, Texas. By 1964, a total of 466 students were enrolled in the district. As Abilene grew and annexed land from Wylie into its school district, Wylie residents voted to become an independent school district in 1968.
