Jacob Roelofs van Deventer (c. 1500/1505 in Kampen – 1575 in Cologne) was a Netherlandish cartographer of the Renaissance. He is today best known for his work in systematically cartographing all towns and cities of the Habsburg Netherlands of his time.
Middelburg was founded by Pieter Bladelin, a high-ranking official responsible for financial matters in the court of the Duke of Burgundy, Philip the Good. [1] [2] Bladelin had begun purchasing parcels of land in the area already in 1433, and in 1444 his holdings were united into a single fief and manor.
Van den Queborn was born in Antwerp. According to the RKD he became a member of the Antwerp Guild of St. Luke in 1577, but left the city and joined the guild in Middelburg in 1579. [1] In 1594 he became court painter to Prince Maurits. [1] He died in The Hague.

Middelburg (Dutch: [ˈmɪdəlbʏr(ə)x] ⓘ) is a city and municipality in the south-western Netherlands serving as the capital of the province of Zeeland. Situated on the central peninsula of the Zeeland province, Midden-Zeeland (consisting of former islands Walcheren , Noord-Beveland and Zuid-Beveland ), it has a population of about 48,000.
