The theatre was renamed The Paramount in 1931, and its entertainment shifted from live performance to movies. The movie theater closed in 1977. In 1999, a local group began restoring the theatre to its historic appearance. The theatre reopened in March 2000 and serves again as a center for artistic, cultural, and educational events. [2]

In order to align the Crump Theatre more with the other two movie houses in Columbus (The Rio and the Mode), the third remodel of the Crump Theatre began in late 1941. The Rio, 416 Fifth Street, designed by architect Alden Meranda, and the Mode Theatre, 315 Washington Street, designed by architect William Pereira, both offered art-deco facades.

Vermont was named in 1849 after the home state of the town's founder, Milton Hadley. [6] The town at one time could be compared to the current Greentown. In 1957, the county built the Wildcat Creek Reservoir and Vermont was in the flood zone for that. Part of the town either moved north slightly or the northern tip is all that remains today.
