It is located 25 km (16 mi) south-west of the city, and is directly connected to the Lahore and Peshawar motorways as well to the capital city Islamabad via Srinagar Highway. The airport commenced full operations in 6 May 2018, replacing the defunct Benazir Bhutto International Airport which now serves only as the PAF Base Nur Khan . [ 6 ]
