B&Q was founded in March 1969 in Southampton, England, by Richard Block and David Quayle, following the purchase and fitting out of a former furniture warehouse in the Southampton suburb of Portswood. [7]
Quayle was born in Banbury, Oxfordshire and went to school at Brighton College in 1950. He returned to the school to be a governor in the 1990s.
