The Quackenbush House, a Dutch Colonial brick mansion, was built c. 1736. [28] Schuyler Mansion , a 1765 Georgian mansion, was built for Philip Schuyler , an American general during the Revolutionary War and later a United States Senator from New York ; it became a National Historic Landmark in 1979. North of State Street it became known as Market Street. The second oldest house in Albany, the Quackenbush House was built along Broadway. Handalaers Street was changed to Market Street, and then in 1815 Court Street became South Market and Market became North Market. [1]
