The Pantera was designed by the Italian design firm Carrozzeria Ghia's American-born designer Tom Tjaarda [4] and replaced the Mangusta.Unlike the Mangusta, which employed a steel backbone chassis, the Pantera's chassis was of a steel monocoque design, the first instance of De Tomaso using this construction technique.

De Tomaso Automobili Ltd. (previously known as De Tomaso Modena SpA) is an Italian car-manufacturing company. It was founded 1959 by Alejandro de Tomaso in Modena . It originally produced various sports prototypes and auto racing vehicles, including a Formula One car for Frank Williams Racing Cars in 1970.

English: Interior of a 1974 De Tomaso Pantera L in Red on display at the 2024 Greenwich Concours d'Elegance. 351C engine, build date November 1973, arrived in NJ in September 1974. One of the presumably very few Panteras which retains the icky Ford steering wheel; very cool to see.
