Donna Adrian Gaines (December 31, 1948 – May 17, 2012), [2] known professionally as Donna Summer, was an American singer and songwriter. She gained prominence during the disco era of the 1970s and became known as the " Queen of Disco ", while her music gained a global following.
The song became Summer's biggest hit in the United Kingdom since 1979, reaching number three and spending a total of 14 weeks in the UK Singles Chart top 75. The three singers continued to tour with Summer through her 1981 tour, and Mary along with Dara toured with their sister through 1987. After 1989 Mary continued to tour with her sister often joined by her brother-in-law, Bruce Sudano, Yvonne Hodges and other back-up vocalists.
