Robert Maxwell (born Max Rosen; April 19, 1921 – February 7, 2012 [1]) was an American harpist, songwriter, and teacher who wrote the music for two well-known songs: "Ebb Tide" and "Shangri-La" (originally a composition entitled "Fantasy for Harp").
Robert ap Huw (or Hugh; [1] c.1580 – 1665), was a Welsh harpist and music copyist. He is most notable for compiling a manuscript, now known as the Robert ap Huw manuscript, which is the main extant source of cerdd dant and is a late medieval collection of harp music. It is one of the most important sources of early Welsh music.
From 1975 to 1985, she was the head of the harp department at the Juilliard School. Richard Lee DeLong (February 28, 1963 – May 13, 2020 [1]) was a leading figure in contemporary Sacred Harp singing. He taught frequently in singing schools and served as the youngest member of the editorial board that created the 1991 Revision of The Sacred Harp, the most widely used book for Sacred Harp singing.
As a jazz harpist he has worked with many jazz musicians (including John Dankworth, Tubby Hayes, Zoot Sims and Kenny Wheeler), [3] and also on film, television and pop music sessions and projects, such as harp on The Incredible String Band's The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter, and the Chris Rea single Every Beat of My Heart.
