Doctor Ludwig Becker, a member of the Burke and Wills expedition, died en route on 29 April 1861. His grave, together with those of William Purcell and Charles Stone, is located on a stock route along the western bank of Kooliatto Waterhole on the Bulloo River. [1] Becker was born at Darmstadt, Germany in 1808.
