Minto (Tanana: Menhti) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area, Alaska, United States. As of the 2020 census , the population of the CDP is 150, down from 210 in 2010. [ 2 ] The name is an anglicized version of the Lower Tanana Athabaskan name Menhti mən̥tʰi , meaning 'among the lakes'.

Minto held village status prior to 2023, when it was amalgamated into the newly formed village of Grand Lake. Minto is known to have taken its present name in 1904 upon the retirement of Canada's eighth Governor General, The Earl of Minto. [2] and the story remains that the village adopted its name from the local Minto Hotel.

The Rural Municipality of Minto is a former rural municipality (RM) in the Canadian province of Manitoba. It was originally incorporated as a rural municipality on November 15, 1902. [ 1 ] It ceased on January 1, 2015 as a result of its provincially mandated amalgamation with the RM of Odanah to form the Rural Municipality of Minto-Odanah .
