The 2024 AFC U-23 Asian Cup Final was a football match that took place on 3 May 2024 at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar, to determine the winners of the 2024 AFC U-23 Asian Cup. The match was contested by Japan and Uzbekistan , the winners of the semi-finals.
The first edition was initially set to be held in 2013 and its qualification matches in 2012, but the finals tournament was postponed to be played in January 2014 due to the 2013 EAFF East Asian Cup. [1] [2] [3] In 2016 the tournament was also renamed from the "AFC U-22 Championship" to the "AFC U-23 Championship". [4]
The draw took place on 25 May 2023 at 15:00 MST , at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. [5] The teams were seeded according to their performance in the 2022 AFC U-23 Asian Cup final tournament and qualification. The nations chosen as group hosts were announced on 17 May and were drawn into separate groups at the beginning of the draw. [6]
The final list of 18−23 players per national team had to be submitted to the AFC at least 10 days prior to its first match of the tournament. All players in the final selection must had been registered in the preliminary list (Regulations Article 26.3.1). On 10 April 2024, the AFC published the final lists with squad numbers. [2]
