The Great Himalayan National Park (GHNP) is a national park in India, located in Banjar sub-division of Kullu in the state of Himachal Pradesh. The park was established in 1984 and is spread over an area of 1171 km 2 ; elevations within the park range between 1500 and 6000 m.

It is a valuable ecosystem as many Himalayan birds and animals migrate seasonally up and down the mountains spending part of the year in the conifer forests, so conservation is a high priority. [2] This ecoregion is drier than the Eastern Himalayan subalpine conifer forests, which receive more moisture from the Bay of Bengal monsoon.
Habitat for Humanity New York City and Westchester County (Habitat NYC and Westchester) was founded in 1984 as an independent affiliate, serving families across the five boroughs through home construction and preservation, beginning with their first build on the Lower East Side, during the first Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project. The sanctuary is connected to the Great Himalayan National Park as well. [1] It is located at an altitude of 2,100 m to 4,900 m. Tirthan Wildlife Sanctuary can be reached by direct buses and taxis from Shimla and Chandigarh to Kullu. [1]
Carter, who died on Dec. 29 at age 100, was an avid backer of Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit that has helped over 59 million people build or repair homes in more than 70 countries.
It is located 4 km (2.5 mi) north from the centre of Raiganj town, the district headquarters. National Highway 34 runs beside the sanctuary. [1] [2] Raiganj is 425 km (264 mi) from Kolkata and 181 km (112 mi) from Siliguri.
The first sites recognised as World Heritage Sites in South Asia were the Sagarmatha National Park and the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal, inscribed in 1979. [3] Nepal has currently a total of four sites. Sri Lanka has eight sites and Bangladesh has three sites. Pakistan has six sites.
