Northampton Plantation was an American plantation established by Thomas Sprigg in 1673. [ 1 ] Charles Calvert, 3rd Baron Baltimore granted a 1000-acre tract of land to Thomas Sprigg in 1673.
Arena Drive is a four to six-lane undivided road. The road continues west as Bishop Peebles Drive toward the stadium and east as county-maintained Arena Drive toward The Boulevard at the Capital Centre and MD 202 in Largo. [1] [33] MD 202E was designated by 1999 shortly after Arena Drive was extended west toward the stadium in 1997. [30] [31] [34]
The property was originally part of the Northampton land grant given to Col. Henry Darnall (c. 1645–1711), a relative of Lord Baltimore, in 1695. [3] His heirs sold the land on April 2, 1745, to Col. Charles Ridgely (1702–72), a tobacco farmer and trader.
