Dangcagan is located in the southern part of the province. It is 72 kilometres (45 mi) from the provincial capital, Malaybalay City, and 162 kilometres (101 mi) from regional center, Cagayan de Oro, which is the main outlet for its agricultural products.
It consists of the municipalities of Damulog, Dangcagan, Don Carlos, Kadingilan, Kibawe, Kitaotao, Maramag and Quezon. [4] It is currently represented in the 19th Congress by Jose Maria Zubiri Jr. of the Bukidnon Paglaum Party (BPP).
Prior to gaining separate representation, areas now under the jurisdiction of Bukidnon were represented under the Department of Mindanao and Sulu (1917–1935).. The Muleta River is found in the southern portion of the province covering the municipalities of Pangantucan, Don Carlos, Kitaotao, Dangcagan, Kibawe, Kadingilan and Damulog. It is another important tributary of the Pulangi River and flows southward. It will join the Pulangi River in the boundary of Bukidnon and Cotabato province.

Kibawe is a rich land at the center of Mindanao, located in southern Bukidnon.It is bounded in the north by the municipality of Dangcagan, on the south by the municipality of Damulog, on the east by the municipality of Magpet, North Cotabato, and on the west by the municipality of Kadingilan with Muleta River serving as a natural boundary.
