Happy Valley Tea Estate is a tea garden in Darjeeling district in the Indian state of West Bengal.Established in 1854, it is Darjeeling's second oldest tea estate. Spread over 177 hectares (440 acres), it is situated at a height of 2,100 metres (6,900 ft) above sea level, 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) north of Darjeeling, and employs more than 1500 people.
Darjeeling tea workers, c. 1890. After the British nationalized the East India Company, it only ever leased the lands to tea garden owners on a 30-year basis and maintained the practice of permitting only 40% to be used for tea crops, with 40% being left natural and 20% for housing and facilities.
North Tukvar Tea Estate produces the best quality first flush Darjeeling tea. [3] As the garden is in a rain shadow area, it uses sprinkler irrigation system operated by gravitational force that covers 75% of the garden. It has a nursery, timber and bamboo forest. [3]
Although the tea estate was set up in the 1830s, it became commercially viable in 1864. It was then known as Bara Ringtong. It was named Margaret's Hope Tea Estate in the 1920s. The present factory was built by John Taylor in 1930. The tea estate is now owned by the Goodricke Group. [4] [1]

Phoobsering tea estate was established by the Darjeeling Tea Company in the 1856-1860 along with Ging, Takdah and Ambootia. Phoobsering tea of Oolong variety is prized all over the world for its taste.
