The Manayunk/Norristown Line is a commuter rail service in Southeastern Pennsylvania between Center City Philadelphia and Norristown, and one of the 13 lines in SEPTA's Regional Rail network. It has the second highest operating ratio (19.9%) on the SEPTA Regional Rail network. [2]
On October 29, 2010, the Cynwyd Line was where the Silverliner V rail cars made their first run in revenue service, [12] and, on June 29, 2012, where the final Silverliner IIs and IIIs ran in revenue service before being fully retired. The Phelophepa trains were founded in 1994 and are sponsored by companies and private donors, including the Colgate Palmolive Company. They operate as mobile hospitals and, as of 2019, have reached 20 million people. Each train serves four provinces each and spends two months in each province. Trains do onboard and community health programs.
In 2016, the Regional Rail system had an average of 132,000 daily riders [5] and 118,800 daily riders as of 2019. [1] The core of the Regional Rail system is the Center City Commuter Connection, a tunnel linking three Center City stations: the above-ground upper level of 30th Street Station, the underground Suburban Station, and Jefferson Station.

The Norristown High Speed Line began service in 1907 as the Philadelphia and Western Railroad (P&W), which ran from the present 69th Street Transportation Center in Upper Darby Township, Pennsylvania to a converted farmhouse station in Strafford, Pennsylvania.
SEPTA activated positive train control on the Chestnut Hill East Line on July 25, 2016. [7] On April 9, 2020, service on the line was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, [8] though Temple University and Wayne Junction stations were still being served by other rail services. Service resumed on June 28, 2020.

The Germantown railway station has existed since at least 1884 when it could be found in the same place it is today on the Chestnut Hill East line. [2] It was on SEPTA's R7 line until the regional-rail renaming. On May 28, 2009, SEPTA approved a $1.9 million rehabilitation effort which included the Germantown station. [3]
