Rooms To Go was founded in 1990 by Jeffrey and Morty Seaman after selling Seaman's Furniture. They opened the first Rooms To Go in Orlando, Florida on September 7, 1990. Rooms To Go's founding concept was the sale of whole room packages, using the slogan: "Buy the piece, save a little. Buy the room, save a lot!"
The Charles Frederick Myers house was built in an eclectic style, including elements of Romanesque Revival, neo-French provincial, and Queen Anne architecture. [1] It was among the most ornate houses built in the city in the 19th century, [2] built on Bryden Road (one of three streets in Columbus where the grandest houses were built, along with East Main and East Broad).
The tower connects to the older portion of the hotel by a sky bridge. The new building includes several restaurants, bars, and 463 guest rooms. The main restaurant, called FYR, has two stories, featuring live-fire cooking and local products. It is joined by a lobby bar, Spark, a rooftop lounge, Stories on High, and a grab & go market. [1]

The building was built on the site of the Virginia Hotel and Columbus Citizen building, both demolished in 1961 to make room for the new hotel. It opened as the Columbus Plaza Hotel in 1963, and became a Sheraton Hotel in 1965, operating until 1987. Numerous plans fell through, and the hotel remained vacant for about a decade.
