2 Broke Girls is an American television sitcom created by Michael Patrick King and Whitney Cummings, who also serve as executive producers.The series stars Kat Dennings as Max Black, who comes from a poor underclass family, and Beth Behrs as Caroline Channing, who was born and raised rich but is now down on her luck, working together at a restaurant in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Williamsburg.
The series chronicles the lives of two waitresses in their mid-20s (at the start of the series): Max Black (Kat Dennings), the daughter of a poor underclass mother and an unknown father, and Caroline Channing (), who was born rich but is now disgraced and penniless because her father, Martin Channing, got caught operating a Bernie Madoff-esque Ponzi scheme.
Dennings and Behrs were the first actors cast in the series. The first season employed a cast a six main actors. Actresses Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs return to portray their respective roles as Max Black, a sarcastic below-the-poverty-line waitress, and Caroline Channing, a former socialite who is bankrupt following her father's arrest for his involvement in a Ponzi scheme.
