When opening an InDesign CC file that is using Gotham otf fonts in CC, Gotham otf fonts show as 'missing' (pink block). Going to 'Find Fonts' doesn't show the otf version of Gotham. The Gotham font family is not one of the font families supported by the Adobe Fonts service. There are literally at least hundreds of thousands of different fonts out there. The Adobe Fonts service provides only a very small subset of those from a limited number of font foundries.
I installed all the Gotham typefaces into Font Book, and they all show up, Gotham Thin, Light, Book, Medium, etc. But when I open up InDesign and select Gotham, the flyout menu only lists Regular. I cannot select between Thin, Light, Book, Medium, etc. Has anyone else had this problem? I am using InDesign CC 2017.
After going to Type > Find/Replace Font, I was able to "replace" Gotham Medium with the same Gotham Medium so it wouldn't show an error, but it did switch to appear italicized. The Gotham font family is not a “free” font family. If you need a copy of one or more styles of the Gotham font family, you need to license it.
If you want the Gotham font released by Hoefler & Co. for commercial use you can purchase it or try a search for Adobe fonts similar to Gotham. Otherwise, there are free open type and true type Gotham versions available for personal use you can download.
3) We are still having to replace Gotham manually whenever we open a project - which puts our larger assignments at risk of losing a lot of important information. When Adobe gives the option to find and replace fonts it doesn't take into account the character styles we've set for our documents.
