Thanh Xuân is an urban district (quận) of Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam. [3] The district currently has 11 wards , covering a total area of 9.09 square kilometres (3.51 sq mi). [ 1 ] As of 2019, [ 2 ] there were 293,524 people residing in the district, the population density is 32,000 inhabitants per square kilometer.
The district is subdivided to 21 commune-level subdivisions, including the township of Kim Bài (district capital) and the rural communes of Bích Hòa, Bình Minh, Cao Dương, Cao Viên, Cự Khê, Dân Hòa, Đỗ Động, Hồng Dương, Kim An, Kim Thư, Liên Châu, Mỹ Hưng, Phương Trung, Tam Hưng, Tân Ước, Thanh Cao, Thanh Mai, Thanh Thùy, Thanh Văn, Xuân Dương.
The district is the site of the Battle of Tốt Động – Chúc Động in 1426 which secured Vietnam's independence from Ming China. Tốt Động and Chúc Động are two villages 6 km apart. Trẩm Mountain is situated in Long Châu hamlet, Phụng Châu, 20 km from Hanoi. [1]
