"Shape of My Heart" is a song by British musician Sting, released in August 1993 by A&M Records as the fifth single from his fourth solo album, Ten Summoner's Tales (1993). The song was written by Sting and guitarist Dominic Miller and features harmonica played by Larry Adler .
However, US singles from the album included the song, as well as a version of the song with different lyrics titled "January Stars". The singles for Ten Summoner's Tales also give credit to Fernandes Guitars , as Dominic Miller played a Fernandes P-Project Acoustic Electric Nylon guitar throughout the album.
It is a remake of Sting's 1993 recording "Shape of My Heart"; the song's verses were changed, while the chorus that features Sting's vocals was re-recorded. [2] According to Sugababes member Mutya Buena , "He felt he could do better with the chorus, so he came in to re-record it". [ 2 ]
Since 1990, he has recorded and toured with Sting. [4] [5] He co-wrote the hit song "Shape of My Heart" with Sting. He released his debut solo album, First Touch, in 1995, followed by Second Nature and Third World. [6] In 2003 he released the classical album Shapes, with interpretations of Bach, Beethoven, Edward Elgar, and Tomaso Albinoni. [7]
The album was influenced by two events in Sting's life: first, the death in late 1986 of his mother, which contributed to the sombre tone of several songs; and second, his participation in the Conspiracy of Hope Tour on behalf of Amnesty International, which brought Sting to parts of Latin America that had been ravaged by civil wars, and introduced him to victims of government oppression.
