A&M has had 1 four time all–American in Lori Stoll, 4 3–time all-Americans (Andaya, Cooper, Gibson, & Dumezich), as well as an additional 5 2–time all-Americans (Carter, Mizera, Scarborough, Vidales, & Lee). Texas fell in the super regional opener to Texas A&M but rallied to win the next two in three tight one-run games and advance to the WCWS.
The Texas A&M–Corpus Christi Islanders softball team represents the Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi, located in Corpus Christi, Texas. The Islanders are a member of the Southland Conference and participate in NCAA Division I college softball. The team is currently led by head coach Kristen Zaleski and plays home games at Chapman Field.
Texas, which started playing softball in 1997, had not received a top-two seed from the NCAA selection committee since the graduation of former All-American pitcher Cat Osterman in 2006.
