Nathan Eldon Tanner (May 9, 1898 – November 27, 1982) was a Canadian politician and a leader of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). He served in the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1935 to 1952 as a member of the Social Credit caucus in government.
The Calgary Stake was established in 1953. In 1960, Alberta resident N. Eldon Tanner was called as a church general authority ; he became a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in 1962 and a member of the First Presidency in 1963.
