Earth Defense Force is a 1991 horizontal scrolling shooter video game developed and published by Jaleco. [3] Originally an arcade game, the game was later released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System as Super Earth Defense Force, dropping the two-player cooperative gaming mode while adding graphics and selectable weapons. [4]
Over 300 weapons are available. These can be purchased using a new unlock system that partially replaces the in-game weapon drop system of Earth Defense Force 2017, though some weapons are only dropped by elite enemies. Four different classes are selectable from the menu, each with special functions and exclusive equipment.
