West Shore State Park is a public recreation area occupying 129 acres on the western shore of Flathead Lake five miles south of Lakeside in Lake County, Montana. The state park offers boating, fishing, camping, swimming, hiking, and wildlife viewing.
Assateague Island National Seashore is a unit of the National Park Service system of the U.S. Department of the Interior.Located on the East Coast along the Atlantic Ocean in Maryland and Virginia, Assateague Island is the largest natural barrier island ecosystem in the Middle Atlantic states region that remains predominantly unaffected by human development.
The state park preserves the site of an American Civil War prisoner of war camp and the Point Lookout Light, which was built in 1830. [4] It is the southernmost spot on Maryland's western shore, the coastal region on the western side of the Chesapeake Bay.
The park has RV & tent sites, log cabins, cottages, yurts, and glamping pods. Amenities include mini golf, fishing, golf cart rentals, a hot tub and sauna, and an on-site cafe. [1] The park is located in College Park, Maryland within a short driving distance from Washington, D.C.
The state park features a 60-acre (24 ha) lake for fishing and boating plus 20 miles (32 km) of trails for hiking, biking, and equestrian use. The park also offers camping, cabins, and hunting as well as a recycled-tire playground for children. [4] The American Discovery Trail runs through the park. [6]
The state park includes the site of the former Bay Shore Park, which was one of the state's premiere amusement parks during the first half of the 20th century.
