Jeg Coughlin Sr. started JEGS Automotive Inc. in 1960 in a garage near downtown Columbus, Ohio because there was no source in the Midwest to obtain high-performance auto parts to modify hot rods. As JEGS became known for their full selection, the "garage" grew into a successful company.
Finding success in manufacturing iron railroad car couplers, the name changed to the Buckeye Automatic Car Coupler Company in 1891 and Buckeye Malleable Iron and Coupler Company in 1894. Eventually, demand for stronger coupling assemblies led to a switch to steel and the name Buckeye Steel Castings.

Midland-Ross Co. was an American steel, aerospace products, electronics, and automobile components manufacturer which existed from 1894 to 1986. Founded as Parish & Bingham, a manufacturer of steel components for bicycles, streetcars, and horse-drawn wagons, it merged with the Detroit Pressed Steel Co. in 1923 to form the Midland Steel Products Co.
A blowoff valve is designed to release pressure in the intake system when the throttle is closed. A "recirculating" type blowoff valve releases the pressurised air back into the non-pressurized section of the intake (i.e. upstream of the turbocharger), while an "atmospheric venting" type blowoff valve dumps the air directly into the atmosphere.
An Eaton M62 Roots-type supercharger is visible at the front of this Ecotec LSJ engine in a 2006 Saturn Ion Red Line.. The Roots-type blower is simple and widely used. It can be more effective than alternative superchargers at developing positive intake manifold pressure (i.e., above atmospheric pressure) at low engine speeds, making it a popular choice for passenger automobile applications.
