The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) is the state-level public health agency for the U.S. state of Georgia. Its purpose is to prevent diseases, promote health, and prepare for disasters. The department is organized into divisions, sections, programs, and offices. [ 1] DPH became an independent state agency in 2011.
The College of Public Health (CPH) officially opened as University of Georgia's 15th college in January 2005 after receiving approval from the UGA University Council in September 2004 and the Georgia Board of Regents in October 2005. History. On January 14, 2004 the Board of Regents established the first School of Public Health in the University System of Georgia and named it the Jiann-Ping Hsu School of Public Health.
