Ephrata (/ ˈ ɛ f r ə t ə / EF-rə-tə; Pennsylvania German: Effridaa) is a borough in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, United States.It is located 42 miles (68 km) east of Harrisburg and about 60 miles (97 km) west-northwest of Philadelphia and is named after Ephrath, the former name for current-day Bethlehem. It surrounds the borough of Ephrata, a separate municipality. The borough of Akron borders the southwestern part of the township. Unincorporated communities within the township itself include Hahnstown and parts of Hinkletown and Frysville, all in the eastern part of the township.
US 322 leads northwest 12 miles (19 km) to Quentin and southeast 5 miles (8 km) to Ephrata. It is 14 miles (23 km) north of Lancaster , the county seat .
