This region roughly overlaps with the Appalachian mixed-mesophytic forests, which begin in southeast Ohio and southwest Pennsylvania and continue south to Georgia and Alabama. The mixed-mesophytic forest is found only in Central and Southern Appalachia and eastern/central China. It is one of the most biodiverse temperate forests in the world.
The route enters New Philadelphia and is surrounded by various warehouses and Ohio Department of Transportation offices. At County Route 125, SR 259 turns right onto Reiser Avenue. After 0.9 miles (1.4 km), the route reaches Brightwood Road and the ramps to and from the southbound lanes of the US 250 and SR 800 freeway.
The Tuscarawas County Courthouse is located at 125 East High Avenue in New Philadelphia, Ohio. The courthouse was constructed by Thomas Boyd in 1882 in the Classical Revival style. An expansion was added in 1990 to alleviate the needs of a growing population and blends in with the older structure.
