New Brunswick High School (NBHS) is a four-year comprehensive public high school serving students in ninth through twelfth grades in New Brunswick, in Middlesex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, operating as the main secondary school of the New Brunswick Public Schools.
The school has a rigorous academic program. Students that fail to maintain a 3.0 GPA are transferred to the New Brunswick High School.All students are expected to take four years of mathematics and science and three years of a world language, which exceeds the minimum requirements as stated by New Jersey and the New Brunswick Board of Education.
In 2001, the school population was over 1300. HVHS, despite its location in Saint John's North End, was meant to serve the high school students for Saint John, New Brunswick's Westside, the Grand Bay–Westfield area, and the Fundy Shores area. The school, although no longer formally a vocational school, still carries many trade-related options.
Most courses run on a full-semester basis, but some grade nine specialty courses (e.g. physical education, visual arts) are half-semester courses. MacNaughton offers students a wide variety of courses, from aviation technology to Mandarin, as well as three Advanced Placement courses: Chemistry, English Literature and Composition, and Psychology.

Credits in this program are granted by the Department of Education in New Brunswick. These credits have authority to count towards the New Brunswick High School Diploma. AP & IB courses is also available but optional. In order to award the New Brunswick High School Diploma, students must earn a total of 17 credits in grades 11 and 12.
